Sewer

The Sewer Division is responsible for maintaining over fifty miles of sanitary sewer and over five miles of sanitary force main.  The Division also checks and maintains four sewer lift stations that carry sewer to the Franklin Regional Wastewater Treatment Plant.

The Regional Wastewater Treatment Plant is located on Baxter Drive, and is owned and operated by Veolia. The Plant provides services for Franklin, Carlisle, Germantown, Franklin Township, Warren County and Montgomery County.  Just recently the Hunter area has started discharging to the Plant.

***If you are located within the City limits, connection to the City’s sewer system is required under City ordinances.***

Back-ups

Always call the Sewer Division first if you have a back-up in your house.  We will come out and assess if the problem is in the main line or the home owner’s lateral.

The City strongly encourages all customers to install a Sewer Backflow Prevention Device to keep sewage from backing up in their home and causing damage. The initial cost of installing a sewer backflow prevention device could save you thousands of dollars in property damage and could help reduce the cost of your homeowners’ insurance. Please contact a local, licensed plumber about having a sewer backflow prevention device installed in your home.

If you have a back-up, please call:

Water and Sewer Line Service Plans

The City of Franklin has with Service Line Warranties of America (SLWA) to offer protection to city homeowners for the water and sewer service lines that connect their homes to the city ’s systems. Many homeowners are unaware that repairs and replacements to these lines are their responsibility and are not covered by basic homeowners’ insurance or by the city.

Founded in 2003, SLWA has partnered with nearly 700 leading cities and municipalities in the US to provide repair service plans that offer homeowners peace of mind and convenience. SLWA’s program is endorsed by the National League of Cities and the company has an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau. For questions about this service, or to enroll, please contact SLWA at 866-922-9006 or visit www.slwofa.com
