| Lt. Whitman is a 1983 graduate of West Carrollton High School. After graduation he worked as a life guard at the Miamisburg Swimming Pool. He entered the United States Coast Guard in August of 1983. He served for four years, getting out in 1987. He joined the Franklin Police Department as a Reserve Police Officer in October of 1987. In August of 1989 he became full time as a patrol Officer. He served as the departments K9 Handler with K-9 Sinbad and K-9 Sonny. He was promoted to Sergeant in 1998. He became a master trainer in less lethal, a county trainer in incident management and active shooter, Commander of the Franklin Reserve Police Division, Senior Field Training Officer and is a member of the Ohio Type III All Hazard Incident Management Team. He was promoted to Lieutenant in January 2009. Lt. Whitman is a graduate of the Police Executive Leadership College, a graduate of Southwestern College (2008) in Franklin with an associates degree in Criminal Justice and is now obtaining his bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice through Tiffin University (2011). He is married with three kids. |
