Law Enforcement - Assignments
Chief Ellis has over 22 years of law enforcement experience. He has served as a Patrol Officer, Patrol Sergeant and Chief of Police. Prior to accepting the Chief of Police position in Franklin, he was the Chief of Police with the Austintown Township Police District.
Law Enforcement Significant Accomplishments
Chief Ellis conducted masters degrees research on the affects of the D.A.R.E. Program in a suburban environment. The completed thesis research project resulted in two published articles (Ohio Chiefs of Police and Ohio Attorney Generals Office Newsletter). Chief Ellis is trained in the Assessment Center Process and participates in various police promotion processes as a consultant.

1-148 Infantry -Task Force Shield KFOR6A
In 2004, the 1-148 IN BN under the command of Lieutenant Colonel Gordon Ellis was alerted, activated, and inducted into the United States Army to serve as the Command Element of Task Force Shield, an Infantry Task Force assigned to peace-keeping operations. Task Force Shield arrived in Kosovo, a hostile fire zone and was responsible to maintain peace in the northeast sector of Kosovo including the Administrative Boundary Line between Kosovo and Serbia in support of NATO Operation Joint Guardian.
The 1-148th IN BN was alerted and responded to New Orleans. The unit re-established order, secured, and cleared the Super Dome of all Citizens and conducted search/rescue operations in East New Orleans. A total of 52 individuals were rescued/evacuated and after 22 days of service, the 1-148th returned to Ohio.
