To help bring energy, interest, and investment into the area, it is crucial to update aging infrastructure and create a pleasant environment along Main Street. The Main Street Streetscape project includes:
- Replacement of the water mains, storms sewers and lining the sanitary sewers
- Moving the overhead electric on Fourth Street underground
- Upgrades to electrical power system to handle larger loads and update aging equipment.
- Reconstruction of Main Street from First Street to Sixth Street, including some side streets
- Replacing the curb, sidewalk, pavers, and street lighting
- Removing the traffic signal at Fourth Street, modifying the signal at Second Street, and converting Main Street to two-way traffic
- Creating bump outs at the intersections for pedestrian safety
- Installation of street trees, parking meters, furniture, and planters
- Installation of a lighting structure, and catenary lighting at Fourth Street.
