Public Hearing & Meeting Notices

Board of Zoning Appeals
 
The Zoning Appeals Board has the authority to hear and decide appeals from decisions made by the Zoning Official or City Engineer under the Unified Development Ordinance; the authority to grant variances; the authority to approve changes in nonconforming uses; and the duty to interpret the Unified Development Ordinance or Zoning Map.

Charter Review Commission
The City of Franklin Charter requires that Council appoint a Charter Review Commission every five years to review and recommend updates to the City’s Charter.  

Civil Service Commission
The Civil Service Commission is responsible for overseeing the civil service rules as they apply to the classified positions within the City service. The Commission also has the duty to administer competitive examinations for vacancies within the classified service, and recommending candidates for appointment to those vacancies. The Commission also has the responsibility of providing for promotions within the classified service, based on competitive examination.

Franklin New Community Authority
The Franklin New Community Authority was established by Ordinance 2023-10 on April 17, 2023. The purpose is to plan for and improve community facilities. 

Parks and Recreation Commission
The City’s Parks and Recreation Commission oversees the maintenance, operation and equipping of the City’s Parks and Playgrounds.

Planning Commission
The Planning Commission is the first step in most development projects within the City, and assures that any new development or redevelopment meets the site plan requirements of the Unified Development Ordinance. 

Records Commission
The Records Commission is established by Ohio Revised Code Section 149.39. The functions of the commission shall be to provide rules for retention and disposal of records of the municipal corporation, and to review applications for one-time disposal of obsolete records and schedules of records retention and disposition submitted by municipal offices.

Special Events Committee
The Special Events Committee was created by City Council to plan and organize all special events within the community, including the July 4th celebrations and the Great Pumpkin Roll Festival.
