Ohio Department of Transportation: Warren County (Thursday, May 25, 2023) – An intersection improvement project on state Route 73 at Interstate 75 in Warren County is set to begin, with construction getting under way early next month.

Under the sponsorship of the Warren County Transportation Improvement District (TID), contractors for the TID and the Ohio Department of Transportation will be constructing turn lanes on S.R. 73 and widening two ramps at the interchange to support additional traffic demands, improve traffic flow, ease congestion during peak travel times, and improve safety.

The project will include construction of a left-turn lane on westbound S.R. 73 at southbound I-75; left and right-turn lanes on S.R. 73 East and West at Sharts Road/Greenwood Lane; widening of the I-75 South entrance ramp to two lanes; widening of the I-75 North exit ramp and a new turn lane to S.R. 73; signal upgrades at the S.R. 73 intersections with I-75 and Sharts Road/Greenwood Lane; and a multi-use path along the south side of S.R. 73 to Conover Drive.

With work getting under way in early June, traffic will be placed into new lane configurations on S.R. 73 East and West, and on Sunday, June 4, single-lane closures will be in effect on S.R. 73 and a shoulder closure will be in place on the ramp S.R. 73 to I-75 South while crews place temporary pavement markings, signs and barrels to shift traffic patterns that will be in place during the first phase of construction. The lane restrictions will be in effect from 7 p.m. Sunday to 7 a.m. Monday, June 5.

Then on Monday, June 5, a single-lane closure will be in effect on S.R. 73 West and the ramp from I-75 North to S.R. 73 will be closed from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. Tuesday, June 6, while crews place barrier wall and shift traffic into a new configuration that will be in place during construction. Message boards and detour signs will be posted.

The Sunesis Construction Company was awarded a contract for approximately $2.5 million to complete the project, and all work is scheduled to be completed in June 2024.
